I have recently resisted shaving or waxing my leg hairs off.

I have always waxed, occasionally shaved. I have given into the shame of stubble and have often uttered the phrase, “Yikes, I have to wax!”

But why? Why are natural parts of ourselves so offensive?

This hit me hard a few years back when I watched my girls sit together and rip the sweet soft baby hair off their legs and then admire them as beautiful. Yet they were embarrassed by those same legs 10 minutes before.

I felt sick and silently begged them to stop

That was it for me.

I have been working really hard to own my leg hairs and accept them as a part of me ever since.

I still shave my underarms

For now.
